What are my rights related to the procedure?

You have the right to

a) Be assisted by a lawyer free of charge

You may choose any lawyer registered with one of the Bars of the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg or to have one chosen on your behalf by the president of the Bar.

For additional information on judicial assistance you can contact:

  • The Office luxembourgeois de l’accueil et de l’intégration (OLAI)
  • The president of  the  Bar  of  Luxembourg located  at  45,  allée  Scheffer,  L-2013 Luxembourg or
  • The president of the Bar of Diekirch located at the Palais de Justice in L-9665 Diekirch
  • Any lawyer directly. A list can be found in any telephone book
  • A NGO active  in  the  field  of  provision  of  services  to  applicants  for  international protection.

Important !

You have to undertake yourself the steps necessary to get assistance from a lawyer!

b)  Get supported by an interpreter

If necessary, the services of an interpreter will be provided free of charge in order to allow you presenting your arguments during the procedure.

c) Communicate with registered organisations

You may communicate with any officially registered organization. Under the condition that you express your consent, such organizations can access all information related to your procedure

d) Get informed on the outcome of your application

The minister shall make a decision on your case within a reasonable time period and you shall be informed about the outcome. If you do not have a lawyer, it shall be communicated in a language you understand or you can reasonably be expected to understand.
